NHL Stenden enriches basic kitchen knowledge with interactive 3D learning tools

The Hotel Management School of NHL Stenden is a leading international program where students are trained in hospitality, entrepreneurship, and hospitality management.

The challenge
First-year students are expected to start working in a restaurant kitchen during the very first week of the program. It is essential that they are familiar with the layout, the equipment, and the safety processes, and understand how a professional kitchen operates.
Until now, students received this instruction during a kitchen tour guided by a chef-instructor. Moreover, there were no suitable workbooks or reference materials available for reviewing the information later.
In practice, it turned out that students were still insufficiently prepared after such a tour. Students without prior hospitality experience, in particular, had difficulty remembering the instructions. Additionally, not all information was absorbed during the tour, and there was no opportunity to revisit it at a later time.
The solution
NHL Stenden uses MetaChef's online learning environment as a valuable addition to the kitchen tour. Students can now study the hospitality kitchen and gain knowledge about the workflow, the equipment present, and how it operates.
With the interactive 3D learning tools, students can familiarize themselves with processes, equipment, and safety even before their first moment in the kitchen. This way, they start with more confidence and a stronger foundation.
